Abstract
A novel remote pointing system, consisting of a remote-control transmitter to which 8-direction remote-control commands can be input and a receiver which provides cursor moving coordinates on receiving the remote-control commands for icons which visualize predetermined factors to operate various devices in the system, is proposed. Furthermore, a method to realize an operational environment, using a remote-control transmitter employing the proposed method on the basis of TV windows matched with systemized AV equipment, is also proposed. The advantages of the method have been experimentally confirmed by constructing an interactive remote-control environment applicable to a home-HDTV (high-definition television) system
