Abstract :
A novel information and communication system particularly well-suited for small-scale condominiums (of a scale of 500 units) has been developed based on the Japanese Home-Bus System (HBS) Standard ET-2101. Methods developed to control data transmission and to secure higher system reliability are reported. By using a pulse-transformerless transmission/receiving circuits, a tournament-type CSMA/CD (carrier-sense multiple access with collision detection) control is attained among 128 terminal units. HBC (home bus controller) and gateways between S-HB (super home bus) and HBS are integrated by a single CPU; together with this, a substantially high system reliability is accomplished by means of a duplex center controller
