Abstract :
The principle of dispersive fiber devices whose refractive index difference between core and cladding changes with wavelength is described. It is shown that wavelength-sensitive and -insensitive devices can be made by appropriate choice of core and cladding dispersive materials. Short- and long-wavelength-pass filters, bandpass filters, optical multi/demultiplexers, and wave-length-insensitive couplers in the 1.3- to 1.55-μm wavelength regions are given as the specific examples of dispersive fiber devices
