Abstract :
An approach to evaluating the machinability of a part during the design stage, which performs systematic generation and evaluation of machining alternatives, is discussed. The results of the analysis provide feedback to the designer about problems that might arise with the machining and information to the manufacturing engineer about which machining processes and process parameters are most desirable.<>
