Abstract :
R.N. Bowles (see IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Symp. Rec., 1991, p.220) has derived the form of an electromagnetic pulse that has propagated, as a plane wave, in homogeneous sea water with an assumed frequency-independent conductivity, permittivity, and magnetic permeability. These three parameters are assumed real. Bowles gives an integral representation for the waveform which includes the effect of displacement currents. The present author presents an alternative procedure.<>
