Abstract :
A finite-element model for matching the rotor and stator meshes of an electric machine is proposed. The two meshes can be generated independently and may overlap in the air gap. For problems with movement, this approach allows one to avoid remeshing and distortion of the mesh. Convergence of the method is ensured. Sparsity, symmetry, and positive definiteness of finite-element matrices are preserved
