Abstract
We describe an experimental investigation of the temperature-increase characteristics in hole-assisted fibers (HAFs) under high power and with multiple bends. The suppression of the temperature increase by trapping the leaked light within the fiber is observed for the first time. We also propose a simple model to describe the temperature increase in HAF, and we show that the proposed model well explains the experimental results. Our report indicates that HAF has excellent resistance to coating damage under high power and with tight bends
