Abstract :
The oxidation stability of metal particulate tape has been studied using high temperature and humidity as accelerating parameters. By fitting the obtained oxidation rate to the Arrhenius scale, the tape´s archival life determined by oxidation has been estimated. The results suggest that the current metal tape has more than 20 years of archival life and that of the improved tape is four times longer. This improvement was achieved by developing a metal particle which gives a uniform dense oxide layer and better magnetic properties
