Abstract :
A novel variational background-based adaptive thresholding algorithm is proposed. By denoising and edge detection, the background region is located. The background surface is then estimated by a variational algorithm. Finally, subtraction of the background surface from the preprocessed image is used to find a global threshold to obtain the binary result
