Abstract :
An adaptive reconstruction method for embedded quantisers is presented. Instead of using the centre value of a quantiser bin, the reconstruction value is adapted to the estimated source distribution. The proposed method rapidly adapts to the unknown source statistics and achieves lower distortion at early stages of embedding levels
