Abstract
Mass lumping has been used to produce explicit time integration schemes for the finite element time domain method. In this paper, we show that a specific choice in the lumping procedure can produce a scheme that is equivalent to the finite difference time domain method. If lumping is done in the time integration process, one can show that it can be equivalent to the Newmark-beta method.
