Abstract :
A new fast block matching algorithm (BMA) with a directional diamond search (DDS) pattern is proposed, which is designed to fit the directional centre-biased motion vector distribution. Simulation results show that the DDS algorithm has a significant computational speedup compared to other popular fast BMAs, with similar or even better performance.
