Abstract :
A tilt compensation algorithm for a 2-axis magnetic compass is presented. The 3rd-axis data are estimated using the dip angle and the attitude information. The tilt error is compensated using the estimated data. This algorithm can be used to provide heading information to small portable devices such as mobile phones and PDAs.
