Abstract :
All-optical wavelength conversion using birefringence switching in a semiconductor optical amplifier is demonstrated. The switched signal has an extinction ratio of ~30 dB. A bit error rate of <10-9 was achieved and a power penalty of 2.5 dB was obtained for a 10 Gbit/s signal
