Abstract :
Remote sensing projects for the International Space Year (ISY) are discussed, as well as the satellites that will be the main source of information. These projects will focus on global change, deforestation, food production, and disaster warning and relief. The factors that hinder the widespread use of remote sensing, namely, technical limitations, resistance to change, legal and security restrictions on data, and the high cost of the data, are examined.<>
