Abstract :
In the above paper the authors propose a procedure for the estimation of parameters and state in discrete mutivariable systems. The procedure uses a particular canonical form to represent the system. In this note it is shown that such canonical form cannot be obtained in a general case. A complete characterization of the case in which it can be obtained is given in terms of the structural indices of the system.
