Abstract :
A method is proposed for measuring the alignment tolerance between multimode fibres including the effect of speckle noise for short distance high speed optical fibre-communications. The alignment tolerance in the step-index-type multimode optical fibre with a core diameter of 80 μm was found to decrease by ~50% compared to that calculated under conditions of uniform excitation with a coupling loss change of 2 dB
