Abstract
A test facility for U02 fuel studies is being installed at the Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories. It includes a gamma-ray spectrometry system to measure the y-ray spectrum from a cooling water pipe of the test loop with a range of up to 109 counts/s. The count rate is kept within the limits required for spectrometry by using combinations of slit collimators and two rectangular detectors of different sizes on the same piece of Ge, switched according to the desired counting efficiency. The results of performance tests are presented.
