Abstract :
Electromagnetic compatibility calculations are addressed with particular reference to test requirements of Directive 89/336/EEC on Electromagnetic Compatibility. The author explains why a simplified procedure is desirable and provides such a procedure, using nomograms. The first nomogram calculates the relationship among the diameter of an assumed circular antenna, the frequency of operation, and the antenna´s gain, beamwidth, and far-field range. The next nomogram shows the field strength which can be achieved at a given range, for a particular antenna gain and power level. The final nomogram allows very simple assessment of the necessary parameters to meet a particular specification
