Abstract :
The scattering characteristics of a rectangular coaxial line branching directional coupler are investigated by an accurate approach that combines the finite-element method with a rigorous mode matching procedure. The impedance transform technique of the multimode network theory is used in the mode matching treatment so that the whole analysis of the 3-D discontinuity problem is significantly simplified. The accuracy and effectiveness of the present method are verified by experimental data.<>
