Abstract :
Having obtained acceptable particle trajectories for specified schedules of electric field intensity and phase velocity in the buncher waveguide, the designer is confronted with the problem of providing a structure exhibiting these properties. The method of procedure is a step-by-step process based upon experimentally obtained properties of the periodic structure used. An example of the procedure is presented with a discussion of beam loading effects.
