Abstract :
For original paper see ibid., vol.28, p.958-60 (1992). The commenters have predicted that bandwidth limited amplification may reduce the interaction forces between adjacent in-phase solitons in optical fibre transmission systems. They refute the claim of Nakazawa and Kubota concerning the invalidity of the prediction of the eigenvalue analysis. In reply, Nakazawa and Kubota reiterate that neither the commenters´ soliton-soliton interaction analysis based on the single soliton perturbation theory nor their computed results provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the reduction of these forces.
