Abstract :
This paper presents the time-domain, finite-difference solutions of the Maxwell-Lorentz equations which are appropriate for calculating electromagnetic responses of systems exposed to pulses of x or gamma rays. The code has been used to solve SGEMP problems. The present version of the code is limited to systems in vacuum such as satellites or missiles above the atmosphere. It does not treat the direct effect of x rays on electrical components (TREE) or on the cabling (cable SGEMP), but is concerned only with structural response. Comparison of computer results with experiments is presented.
