Abstract :
A semiconductor laser was fed by a high-frequency transmission line transformer in an impedance matched circuit. The laser threshold for short-duration electrical pulses is shown to be significantly lower than with conventional 50- Omega transmission line arrangements. This setup can be used to increase the overall efficiency of laser diode systems.<>
