Abstract :
A portable SQUID NDE system was developed for practical use in industrial applications. The system consists of a high order DC-SQUID gradiometer, a downsized liquid helium cryostat, battery-operated electronics and a computer for data acquisition and controlling the system by customized software. Experiments confirmed that the system was quite useful in practical applications due to its rapid moving (as high as 100 mm/s) and free movability in the Earth´s magnetic field without the need for magnetic shielding.
