Abstract :
Catastrophic jump phenomena in a nonlinear control system when a sinusoidal input is applied is investigated by applying the catastrophe theory. The well-known jump resonance phenomenon in the frequency response can also be analyzed in the framework of this theory. Parameter regions for catastrophe for various types of nonlinear characteristics are shown.
