Abstract :
An alternative solution is presented for Ott´s (1970) integral equation for the attenuation of a high-frequency vertically polarized radio signal propagating over rough inhomogeneous terrain. The method circumvents the numerical stability occurring with an earlier method at steep slopes and/or high radar frequencies. The method is illustrated by application to a steep profile at 20.08 MHz. The obtained values for the attenuation function agree well with experimental measurements.<>
