Abstract :
This paper reports on results of a series of 149 switching tests made on the American Electric Power (AEP) 532-km (331 mi) Dumont-Marysville-Kammer 765-kV line. Steady state and switching surge overvoltages are examined and analyzed. Comparisons are made with Transient Network Analyzer (TNA) and load flow studies as well as with results of previous AEP 765-kV field tests. In addition, results of some digital computer transient analysis studies performed subsequent to the tests are also presented.
