  • Abstract
It is suggested that the technical feasibility of digital HDTV (high-definition television) for terrestrial broadcasting seems to be within reach. However, to launch a successful HDTV broadcasting service, the viewing public will have to be educated and they will have to experience a paradigm shift of what to expect from terrestrial delivery. They will be subjected to, and part of, a revolution. It is concluded that in the end, the willingness to accept the unfamiliar aspects of this new service may be what ultimately determines whether the revolution will be successful or whether it will simply produce a rebellion against changing that which is familiar and comfortable
