Abstract
Forced cooling of pipe type transmission systems permits a substantial increase in their current capacity. To accurately predict the operating temperature within forced cooled cables, the conduction heat transfer within the insulation must be accurately modeled. In particular, hot spots due to the proximity of one cable to another, or to the pipe wall must be considered.
