            Abstract :
Pipe-type cable systems have been a part of electric transmission systems since 1940. These systems require special protection from external corrosion and a continuous monitoring for potential problems in order to make the system cost effective. Types of corrosion cells, methods of corrosion mitigation, such as coatings and/or cathodic protection, and several system testing techniques are discussed.
