Abstract
The Reduced Hessian method, which is inherently a second order method, has been applied to the optimal load flow problem. This method, in conjunction with a procedure for handling the constraints on the control variables, results in highly reliable convergence and excellent accuracy. Unlike most other methods, the algorithm in this paper is not dependent upon the proper selection of acceleration factors. The effectiveness of this method has been demonstrated by applying to sample systems.
