Abstract :
A 2.5 Gbit/s direct detection preamplifier receiver with a sensitivity of -43 dBm at 1552 nm is presented. The receiver has potential use in densely spaced multichannel systems because it allows a channel spacing of 30 GHz for a penalty less than 1 dB.
