Abstract
High-altitude platforms (HAPs) provide a possible solution to the ´last-mile´ problem in broadband telecommunications. The frequencies assigned for HAPs (28 and 48 GHz) are subject to attenuation and scatter by rain. These effects are explored in relation to ground station (GS) antenna beamwidth and sidelobe levels.
