Abstract :
Spatial hole burning and mode jumping in a linear Nd3+ fibre laser are suppressed by inserting an integrating optical phase modulator at one end of the resonator and a section of undoped fibre at the other end. At 1088 nm a linewidth of 40 MHz is obtained.
