Combined polygonal loop antenna with circularly polarised conical pattern

A new type of low-profile antenna arrangement is introduced for producing an omnidirectional conical pattern of circularly polarised radiation, and named the combined polygonal loop antenna (CPLA). The maximum gain of 4 dBi is obtained at about 40 degrees off broadside, where cross-pol discrimination is more than 10 dB. Over a frequency range of 16% the radiation pattern remains almost unchanged and the input VSWR is lower than 2.0.
