Abstract :
The author presents results of a 12-b BiCMOS sampling analog-to-digital converter (ADC) IC. The ADC achieves full accuracy with an overall conversion time of 750 ns including sample acquisition. In addition, the design provides a 2.5-V reference output that can be used as the main reference for the ADC. A 2-μm feature size BiCMOS process with 3-GHz polysilicon emitter n-p-n transistors was used to implement the design. The resulting die is 29.2 mm2 and nominally dissipates 600 mW
