Abstract :
We measured absolute cross sections for electron emission in N++Ar and O++Ar collisions for 50 to 500 keV impact energies. The cross sections were observed as a function of the electron energy (5 to 500 eV) and its emission angle (16o to 160o). Auger-electron spectra referring to Ar L-M and Ar L2-M3 transitions are presented. Emphasis is given on continuous electrons originating from the projectile and target atom. At about 50 to 150 eV we find unexpected spectral structures whose intensity increases as the observation angle increases from 90o to 165o. We observed three broad structures whose energy positions do not change with varying observation angle. They are shifted, however, to higher energies as the incident energy increases.
