Abstract :
This paper describes the design, development and test results of a high-speed VCO with an output frequency range from 29 MHz to 54 MHz. The use of highspeed and low-noise techniques throughout the unit enable the VCO to slew at greater than 5 MHz/¿sec, while maintaining high spectral purity and phase stability. These characteristics allow the Booster phase-lock system to operate at a high gain setting while using a wide loop bandwidth.
