Abstract :
Ferromagnet/antiferromagnet (F/AF) systems are analyzed in terms of an extended Stoner-Wohlfarth model. The calculations are compared with measurements of the anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR). The exchange bias field strength can be directly derived. Asymmetries of the AMR curves give clues to the different orientations of the uniaxial and unidirectional anisotropy. The large influence of uniaxial anisotropy on the reversal of F/AF systems is shown.
