Abstract :
A new combined approach to modeling processes of microwave ablation of biological tissues is described. The heating rate in the near zone of coaxial antenna during ablation is calculated using a virtual waveguide cell with a thin dielectric rod, and simple analytical expression for temperature as a function of time, power density and thermal parameters of a tissue. Results of theoretical calculations are compared with experimental data of ex-vivo studies of the microwave ablation of liver.
