Abstract :
On-line dynamic testing technique, using sinusoidal excitation is presented in this paper. This technique enables the automatic sweeping of the frequency range together with the control of excitation force and its direction using a mini-computer. All the steps are carried out automatically apart from the clamping of the exciter and connecting the instrumentation. As an illustration, this technique is applied to a horizontal milling machine thus immediately rendering the merit chart of this machine tool.
