  • Abstract
    Tests of control performance using hourly real-time data provided by a number of US-Canadian control areas are described. The megawatt-hour magnitudes of each area´s self-caused (primary) and remotely caused (secondary) inadvertent interchange components were determined, separately for on-peak and off-peak. For fuller performance evaluations, a value system based on differing values of inadvertent interchanges accumulated during a given period, even an hour, converts the megawatt-hour components into equivalent dollar values. This approach is made feasible by the use of a decomposition technique. The effect of each area´s regulating deficiencies on system time deviation was determined
