Abstract :
The authors illustrate an application of control concepts in the area of power systems. The control techniques are applied to a practical problem related to the dynamic performance of a Darrieus wind turbine (aerogenerator) which is connected to a remote AC network through back-to-back direct current converters. The converters, arranged as a DC link, serve as static frequency changers, and they provide the means for controlling the dynamics of the wind turbine. In addition to providing speed and power regulation, the DC link controls contribute to the reduction, in a simple and low-cost manner, of torsional vibrations in the drive train of the wind turbine
