Abstract :
Theoretical advances in linear interpolation techniques and their application to planning are presented. It is shown that a limited number of detailed simulation runs may be expanded into a sizeable database by using a piecewise higher-order linear interpolation technique. Case studies involving the New York City area and Bonneville Power Administration are discussed. The case studies show that interpolation accuracy is high. It is concluded that the expanded database created may be used for a variety of planning studies
