Abstract :
The problem to be considered in this paper concerns the response of a multiconductor bundle of wires in a cavity to the internal electromagnetic fields driven by the electron emission current due to an incident photon flux. These fields couple to the individual conductors of the multiconductor bundle in a way which depends on both individual wire to cavity coupling and individual wire to wire coupling. A rigorous modeling of this coupling requires a precise description of the capacitance and inductance matrix of the multiconductor bundle along with the inclusion of the effects of the scattered electric and magnetic fields in the coupling process. This paper will be concerned with such a description of the excitation process. We will consider our approach to modeling this problem within the confines of the assumption of quasi-TEM propagation. Particular emphasis will be paid to the way in which the current that flows on the conductors distributes itself. The results of this analysis will be compared with a detailed modeling of a multiconductor bundle in a cavity using a 3-D electromagnetic code.
