Abstract :
Wavelength tunable operation of an Er3+-doped fibre laser has been demonstrated using a tunable ring resonator configuration. This configuration gives a stable narrow linewidth output exhibiting discrete tuning bands within a 70 nm wavelength region centred on the important 1550 nm telecommunications window.
