Abstract :
The development of the oil fields in the Arctic is requiring the construction of new power facilities in the Far North. The conditions under which these facilities are constructed and operated are markedly different from those normally encountered in the lower 48 states. This paper calls attention to many of the special conditions which must be considered in preparation for design, construction and operation.
