Abstract :
Alloying of intermetallic rare-earth compounds of the type R2 Fe17 leads to ternary carbides of the form R2Fe17Cx. In this work, the authors discuss C-induced changes in Curie temperatures, unit cell dimensions, magnetization, and magnetocrystalline anisotropy. They report on HREM (high-resolution electron microscopy) observations of stacking faults in these materials and discuss their possible influence on the attainment of coercive forces
