Abstract
This paper addresses the basic application of human engineering principles to the C-E NUPLEX 80 advanced control center for nuclear power plants. The resulting improved man-process interaction in terms of control panel layouts and a color graphics video display system is discussed. A critical function monitoring system utilizing the display technology developed for NUPLEX 80 is highlighted in some detail in reference to the operator´s role for abnormal plant operation.
